Poor baby...
Well well, Z is back for a bit. Got a few minutes of free time on my hands, so I figured I'd have a sit down and jot up a journal.
My cat, Wolfwood, is very, very ill. He hasn't been breathing right the past few days, and he was unable to close his mouth or purr or meow. We took him to the nearest emergency vet clinic last night at around 1 AM last night, which was an hour-long car trip.
Wolfy, we've learned, suffers from very severe asthma, which leads to a trapping of air in the lungs. There may be a more severe heart problem underneath it all. He was put into an oxygen chamber to help open up the passages in his lungs, and his bronchial tubes and the like.
He's very, very sick. What makes this the most painful, however, is that he's just a baby. He's only four years old. He shouldn't be sick. He should be a happy, healthy, bouncy little cat-who-thinks-he's-a-dog, just like he's always been. He shouldn't be on the verge of death.
What scared me the most was what the E-Vet said. He said that he "would consider humane euthanasia to be a very plausible option". He's just a kitten; he's our baby boy. We love him to death, my family and I, and he's got so much more left to give us.
He's staying up at the emergency clinic now, still locked in his little oxygen tank with IVs in his little legs. We can't afford to keep him alive if this becomes a regular occurrence, which the vet says is a high possibility. It's not a one-time thing.
We're giving him this one chance, because it's all we can afford. This might be the last time we'll be able to save him. He's an amazing little guy, my little tuxedo cat. I guess I'll just have to make the most of whatever time we have left with our Wolfwood.
So if you're theologically inclined, I hope you wouldn't mind sending a prayer his way. Even if you're not, the power of hope is boundless. Please send him happy thoughts and well wishes if you have a spare moment.
Devious Comments
Ask the vet to run a heartworm antigen test on him if misquotes are prevalent in your are or if there are large areas of standing water. Sometimes when the heartworm larva mature, they die and they fall in the heart and lungs making the cat seem like it has asthma like symptoms. While you cat may truly have asthma, there is medications to help it.
Don't know if this helps.

I sincerely hope he gets well and becomes his usually happy-go-lucky self again.
